MY APPROACH

I will generally start by discovering who you are and what brings you into therapy. This can cover hearing your “life story” to better understand the issues you want to focus on. My therapeutic approach is eclectic which means “selecting what appears to be best from various styles, doctrines, or methods.” I work with you to determine what approach would be most helpful to meet your specific goals drawing from the different therapeutic modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and any others that are relevant. Whilst my focus is always on you, we may want to draw in significant others or families if this helps with your progress.

My view is that our work together is a partnership where were both actively participate.

When we meet, I will listen carefully and then engage with you to understand the details of your lived experience, your perspective and needs, to identify those changes that will help alleviate your concerns. I recognize that change is difficult and takes courage and will be there to support you on this journey.

My clients say I am warm, friendly, easy to both talk to and to confide in.

I really strive to create a safe space for you to talk and to move at a pace which you feel comfortable with.
