“I am not what happened to me,
I am what I choose to become.”
Carl Jung

The choice to “choose what to become” takes incredible courage, strength and perseverance. To get you there, we will spend time understanding what's keeping you up at night or weighing you down during the day. My aim is to support you on this journey whilst honoring your personal identity and lived experience.

ABOUT

HI, I AM ALBERTO.

ABOUT ME

A little bit about me; I am a Licensed Professional Counselor living in Atlanta, GA. I was born in India to Italian parents and lived in many parts of the world prior to settling in the United Kingdom where I completed my undergraduate degree. I then embarked on an international corporate career that took my family and I to Asia, Europe and the United States. Over this time, I witnessed the pain of mental suffering across many different groups, an experience which led me to pursue a second career in mental health.

Having lived internationally for significant periods of my life, I am particular sensitive to cultural and identity issues together with the challenges of transitions. This can be a geographical or career/retirement transition, or perhaps a relationship transition in instances of divorce or the death of a loved one. Before or after a transition is it common to experience fear, anxiety, anger and self-doubt caused by the unknown. These emotions bring with them the risk of poor mental health and affect emotional well-being. I will work with you on acceptance of the new reality, having realistic goals and avoiding unhealthy coping mechanisms like drugs and alcohol.

I have extensive experience of working with people in addiction, in recovery from addiction or who think they might have a problem with addiction.  It has been said that addiction is a "feelings disease", and whether it is a substance (alcohol/drugs) or behavioral addiction (for instance, gambling, eating, spending, sex), I focus on addressing the addiction by resolving the feelings behind it. I am dedicated to helping people move on from pain towards their recovery. I look forward to meeting you!

EDUCATION

I hold an undergraduate's degree in Economics from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University in Atlanta, GA. I am passionate about building my skills, through continuing education and networking.

EXPERIENCE

As a licensed therapist, I have had the privilege of working in a number of settings, from hospital work in the Emory Healthcare system to an outpatient setting at Buckhead Behavioral Health in addition to my private practice.

SPECIALTIES

I specialize in recovery from life transitions, addiction, depression, and anxiety. I tailor the therapeutic approach to your individual needs.
